Spend two days and two nights exploring the work and life of rural Nicaragua. You will stay on a local farm, sharing both the Labor and the beauty of farming. Visitors get up early to milk the cows, and spend a significant portion of the morning assisting the family with farm chores. Afternoons are dedicated to hiking, visiting local coffee farms, making cheese, and visiting with the family prior to departure. Evenings are yours to enjoy.
Note: This tour is our attempt at shifting away from typical tourism, which can be very disconnected from (real people and real lives) an experience of the people and lives in the community. At the same time we acknowledge that a visitor will never be able to understand what it means to be a small farmer in Nicaragua in just two days. By participating in the farm work and living in a family’s home, the experience is much more based in reality than it would be if visitors were to sip coffee in the kitchen while the family was LABORING in the field. This excursion provides a small income for the family in addition to covering expenses listed above.
Cost: US$50/person, minimum 2 people, maximum 4 people Included: transportation, room and board for 2 days and 2 nights, purified water, guide, all activities
