Econic is a non-profit social organization based in Ocotal, in northern Nicaragua. Our current volunteer coordinator, David Jones, has a blog you can read regarding his experience with Project Econic and life here: https://econicadventure.wordpress.com/
What do we do?
Econic works with local farmers and communities in Nueva Segovia. We use profits generated through tours and courses to fund a small volunteer program that works in education and ecologically friendly organic farming.
Our dream has always been to have a piece of land we could call our own. With great luck and hard work, this year our dream has been realized. Now, we will be turning this high-grade coffee farm into an area for a range of different crops. We know the spirituality of the land we are tilling, and we are opening the farm for meditation and yoga classes.
Why do we do it?
Because we want to improve the local economy and quality of life, and because we believe that this can be achieved by creating a platform for knowledge, culture, and skill exchange between the people of the region and individuals from around the world.
Econic enjoys introducing people from around the world to a unique cultural experience in a beautiful place- thriving with natural, cultural, and spiritual resources. We enjoy introducing people to our home, and spreading knowledge throughout the world. We offer unique experiences in the region of Nueva Segovia, home of some of the world's best coffee.
We have successfully purchased a piece of land where we can develop a demonstration farm, community garden, and agricultural learning center to teach and promote sustainable agriculture. Project Econic is extremely proud to offer you a chance to experience life and agriculture here with us on our new farm.
